Original La Marzocco “X-Filter” tested & certified sieve in various sizes
La Marzocco's X-Filter sieves (formerly Strada X sieves) are more precisely manufactured than many standard sieves. The number of holes, hole diameter, and distribution are precisely defined, resulting in more consistent water flow. This helps reduce fluctuations in extraction at the same grind size, dose, and tamping pressure. The material is more robust than cheaper sieves. This means they deform more slowly – even with frequent changes of sieves in the portafilter and intensive cleaning.
The sieves are certified, meaning they have been tested within defined tolerance ranges. This ensures consistency—particularly important when multiple machines or brewing groups are in use and comparable results are to be achieved.
